I came across this technique in the archives of the International Soceity of Glass Beadmakers. Many thanks to whomever originated the technique.

1. Wrap a small disk shape base bead.

2. Place small dots of contrasting color on the base bead. I melt them in a bit.

3. Wrap a pretty good size glob of clear on top of the dots. Notice you do not have to get the clear in between the dots.

4. Slowly melt the whole bead until it spreads out and your stripes magically appear.

TA DA !! You've done it. Simple after you get the feel of it.

Variations;
Place dots of clear or the base color between the contrasting color dots.

Pile different colored dots on the base bead for multi colored stripe
