They are fun to make, take a little while but the effect is beautiful! I used a HH and moretti. If I can make them anybody can.
You will need two colors of thin stringer. Not hair thin but thin. I used opaque white and then transparent Dk. Emerald green.
I started with a clear small base bead (about 5mm). All the glass added will make it bigger. Make the base bead nice and round and centered.
On the bottom of the bead apply white dots all the way around as close to the hole you can get without touching the mandrel. Melt them in slowly so that they will be a dot and not move together. I used 6.
Take your 2nd color and apply another dot on top of each white dot just a little lower on the bead so that the white will show a little bit. Melt them in slowly like the white ones.
Now all you need to do is repeat the above steps until all the bead is covered to the other end of the mandrel. Place your next row of white dots in a brick pattern from the previous row. Apply 2nd color and repeat.
I hope this explains it.
Now I want to see YOUR fish scale beads!!!
